HANS COPER & LUCIE RIE

Galerie Besson 20th Anniversary Exhibition

16 July - 28 August 2008

Galerie Besson opened in April 1988 with an exhibition of sixty works made by Lucie Rie for the occasion. A Hans Coper exhibition followed later in the same year, and since then the gallery has continued to hold regular exhibitions of both artists work. Those exhibitions have included a loan exhibition in 1995 after the death of Lucie Rie held in celebration of the artist's life, a Lucie Rie centenary exhibition in 2002, and a joint exhibition of Hans Coper and Peter Collingwood, looking back to their important joint show at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1968.

The gallery holds a significant permanent stock of works by both artists ranging from important museum quality studio pieces to domestic ware made at Albion Mews studio during the late 1940's and 1950's.
